OACDL Mourns the Loss of Cincinnati Board Member

On behalf of the OACDL community, and with a very heavy heart, I am shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic and untimely death of board member, Steve Adams. He was known for his sense of humor; his relentless advocacy; and, his drive. He was a regular faculty member at the Advanced OVI Seminar.  He worked closely and tirelessly with the OACDL DUI and Amicus Committee in preparing for his Ohio Supreme Court case - one of the first wins against the Intoxilyzer 8000 with Cincinatti v. Ilg in 2014. Please join me in keeping Steve’s family and friends in your thoughts as we also note the void in the criminal defense bar where Steve’s energy, passion, and ambition once stood.

Fellow Board Member Tim Huey shared on his Facebook page:  Steve and I were co-authors of the Ohio OVI Defense book and put in some long hours on some cases involving important legal issues that created precedent that made our system fairer for accused citizens.

On numerous occasions Steve and I have taught at legal seminars together. Steve was an extremely popular and effective teacher, especially when it comes to the "hands on" nuts and bolts of litigating and trying a case. I will miss him as will so many of our colleagues.

Steve rarely said no when asked to teach or asked to share his time, when he did it was because he had a family commitment and/or the opportunity to be a proud supporting dad at a sporting event.

OACDL sends condolences to Steve’s family, friends and colleagues.
